Whispering Hearts Family Service Centre

Had my first session with the youth juz now...

Paired with this other guy to "take" 3 youth, but apparently they were the more talkative ones, and we ended up chit-chatting instead of giving tuition... Overall was not too bad, could still communicate with lower sec ppl, lolx... Church muz have been a gd place for me to get some exp :)

Anyway there's an upcoming WSC Orientation Camp on the Wed of the recess week, and most prob I'll be going... Need to noe more ppl sia! :D

Tuition schedules are finally settled, more or less :) Wed and Sat are my tuition days for now, and with 4 students I reli do hope tat I have time to study my own stuff, lolx...

Time reli flies; b4 I know it, I hav been in the Uni system for one month already!! Generally still ok, but I need to start reading the textbooks tat I've bought, if not they will be rotting for another few weeks, which is definitely NOT gd! So far I managed to attempt every tutorial b4 I go for the actual lesson, but take note that its 'ATTEMPT' and not 'COMPLETE', lolx... Econs Lectures are getting more interesting, as we learn abt how individuals make decisions as well as how governments can respond by playing a part in the nation's economy... But seriously cramming 2 yrs of JC stuff into 13 weeks doesnt sound tat appealing to me... My frens who have taken Econs b4 are already telling me tat we are beginning to learn stuff tat they dont in JC =/ Math is ok except tat the proving still bugs me... Calculus is ok la, at least its something tat I've seen b4 :) Linguistics I reli need to read the book, if not think will lag until v jialat, haha...

So far, thank God tat I hav made quite a few frenz as well :) Slightly more than 10 I think, and they are not juz hi-bye frenz, but rather those that I can go lecture with and have meals together with one... I realise tat its reli quite impt to hav frens in Uni, otherwise it can be REALLY lonely... Found a few frenz (4 to be exact) who hav exactly the same timetable as me! :D So cool rite? Then I've oso been exploring the whole sch for more gd food, lolx... Juz found out today tat there's a place to eat supper which is v near sch, maybe can go there see one of these days :)

*I hope tat I'm finally adjusting to Uni life! :D

Science + Art = ?

Prof. Andrew is gd! Today we used the precise definition of limits to prove harder limits... Of course, some of us had difficulty understanding the proofs, and were puzzled... Well, I went down to ask him stuff at the end of the lecture for the first time, and I muz say he's gd la! :D

Some of his quotes:

"Well, if I'm teaching what you already know, then what's the point of coming here?"

"In University u don't just keep differentiating more and more complex functions, u'll need to learn how to understand calculus at a deeper level."

"Engineers don't get this stuff; they take yrs to accept it."

LOL I'm so proud to be a Math Major!

Linguistics lecture today was oso quite interesting... Began studying the structure of language; today in particular we started with the morphology of language... The technical part of this module is starting to show itself, but to a certain extent its quite intriguing :) We studied how words are formed and learnt abit of Swahili (some African language) and Italian... Check out the following:

Gibberish?

It actually means "Someone did not find a completely suitable resting place."

So cool rite!?! :)

*I love Tuesdays, they are a prefect mix of science and art, which makes life all the more interesting and meaningful, lolx...

Fireworks! =)

Juz came back from supper at Bedok Market... Its been a long time ever since I ate there liao... 想当年那里是我的地盘 :) Went out with my aunt, uncle and my 2 cousins to the Singapore Fireworks Celebration '08 at the Marina Bay Floating Gallery... The fireworks were nice but the light drizzle was abit irritating, and the tons of ppl squeezing ard wasnt exactly wad I asked for when I agreed to go, lolx... Nonetheless, it was a well-spent Sat eveining-till-night :D Took quite a few pics of various stuff tat I saw along the way after going in... There were many diff stalls showcasing artworks, and I managed to capture some of the nicer ones...

Cool logo!

I wanna float ard too! :D

Playing with fire...

FOOD!!

Soooo cute! :)

Creative Artworks

The tree of the knowledge of good and evil, lol :D

Unique Shirts

Moon-like object

Night view

Floating Field?

The following are some pics of the fireworks I took, but my phone quality not v gd, and definitely cant match the "live telecast", lolx...

The 2nd Miracle!

I'm in! :)

I'm in! :)

I'm in! :)

In case u're wondering wad's happening, I juz got into WSC's RSP FOC (Welfare Services Club - Regular Service Project - Friends Of Children), which to me is another miracle given to me by God! The interviews were on Mon and Tues from 6.30pm to 10.30pm, and I went down on the 2nd day... Was thinking of joining FOC but my kiasu-ism (contributed by some of my frens who already went for the interview, cos they were saying better try out for more than one portfolio in case you dont get in) let me to go for the Youth interview as well... If u read my previous post, u'll know tat the Youth interview didnt go too well and I was sortof pinning all my hopes on FOC...

Well... Guess wad? At 12.56am last night, or rather early today morning, I received an sms telling me tat I'm accepted into both and tat I will hav to choose one! Can u imagine tat? I can only say its by God's grace tat it can happen, esp since there are like hundreds of ppl going for the various interviews during tat 2 days... Praise God yea!! :) I'm so glad tat I'm gonna be a part of WSC, and tat I'll be reaching out to children on a weekly basis soon! :D

My pride & joy! Go WSC! :)

I shall 顺便 publicise for my sch as well...Found the following cool logo somewhere in EdveNTUre :)

SPMS rox! :)

Well tat's all for now, still on Cloud 9 after knowing tat I'm accepted into 2 portfolios and had to choose one, lolx... Hope to update soon on my first meeting with the kids! :D

WSC Interview

Juz in case u didnt noe by now, Singapore got a silver medal for table tennis!!! :D Was watching the Gold Medal Doubles Match between China & Singapore after I came back from Suntec on Sunday... We lost the first 3 sets and got ourselves a Silver... 11-8, 11-5 and 11-6 was the scores if I rmbr correctly... Well, at least we got ourselves something after 48 yrs :) After tat was the singles badminton match but between this Malaysia guy and the World No. 1 from China... Muz give the Malaysian guy credit for his efforts, although in the end I think he still lost (didnt manage to finish watching though cos I went back to Hall)... Anyway it was nice being able to watch the Olympics for once and not juz glancing thru every TV set I see along the way... Managed to watch abit of basketball on the bus ride too, and it was reli nice watching them play at such a level... Onli know tat in the end Spain won 98-50 and went on to the Semi-finals... Hopefully I get to watch more badminton, haha! :D

Well, I juz came back from WSC Interview... Went for both RSP FOC (Friends Of Children) and RSP Youth... The Children one was still ok, basically was like chatting with the two ladies, lolx... Managed to ans all their qns and after tat when they asked if I hav any qns I sortof asked them how's their exp. so far after one yr in RSP FOC, like I'm interviewing them back, haha :) Well it was a nice session tat I had with them :)

As for the Youth one, I think CMI liao... Everything was still ok until they gave me a scenerio and asked for my opinion... "If a youth u knew was planning a fight in sch, what would you do?" I hesitated for awhile and the gist of wad I said was tat I would find out wad happened, then try my best to persuade him and stop him, but if he reli wanted to still carry out his plan then there's nothing tat I can do (I think this is the part tat I so-called "answered wrongly") When I thought abt it after I left I knew I was a goner, lolx... I mean, I actually told them that there's a possibility that I'll let him carry on with the fight? Although there's a chance that it can actually happen, but I suppose tat's not wad they wanna hear :( Perhaps I shd hav said tat I'll lure the guy away or try to delay him... Something along those lines bah... Well, in any case, I trust tat God will place me somewhere where I can make a difference... In the first place my focus was on chidren anyway, juz went for the youth interview cos everyone's saying to try for more than one in case u r not accepted... I'll noe the results on Friday, hopefully its good news!

Ok juz a few more updates, ytd at Math tutorial I got to know 2 China guys who's super pro in Math la... One of them can proof the following in 5 lines!!

So I hav decided that I shall bug him if there's anything I dunno, haha... For them they've already learnt proofs in more detail than us back in China, so its like an appetizer to them... The other guy was quite nice too, sat with him during C++ Lecture :)

Then today we learnt the precise definition of limits as well! I shall share with you the following formula, cos if u know and understand it u can become a Mathematician liao! :D

Btw, Econs is getting interesting as well, although I'm juz at Price Elasticity in Micro and GDP/GNP in Macro... Reli hav to start reading my textbks so tat I'll get a better understanding of this new subject in my life :) I realised tat Econs is reli a very practical subject, and many of the concepts can be applied into daily life... C++ is oso getting more fun as we learn to write more complicated programs, and I can oso start to appreciate the power of such a programming language... As for Linguistics, tutorials are more like discussion sessions, in which most of the qns hav no right or wrong answers, cos it reli depends on ur perspective in some ways and how u justify urself... In a way its similar to discussing GP Essay Qns, lolx... I guess it can be gd or bad, depending on how u see it... The gd thing is tat even if u did not do ur tutorial beforehand, u can like juz "smoke" ur way thru and juz gif some explanation, but the bad thing is prob during exams the way ur scripts are marked will be quite subjective, at least for the essay qns...

Well, in general I suppose u can say tat I'm still coping, lolx... At least so far I managed to prepare every tutorial b4 the tutor goes thru the qns :) Juz hope tat I'll get into WSC, and then I can reli look forward to a fun and meaningful exp. in NTU! :D

My first "book out"!

Left my rm at 12.30pm today...

Seemed like a "book out", lolx...

In many ways, staying in Hall is like NS, with the exception tat u can come and go as u wish, lolx...

Do bear with me, this post is gonna be filled with many random thoughts :)

Ok let's begin with ytd's welcome tea by the Welfare Services Club... It was simply amazing, the kind of presentations they gave... I for one was "wowed"! :D Targeting a few of the portfolios, mainly is the RSP FOC (Regular Service Project Friends Of Children) and the OVE (Overseas Volunteering Expedition)... Well here are some of the freebies I got from the welcome tea :)

Diff aspects of WSC

So cute right! =)

Next let me tell u abt the location of my Hall (I'm in Hall 8 btw)... Take a look at this next building... Couldnt reli capture the full view of the building, but I can sat tat this is one of the nicest buildings ard... Its the ADM (Art, Design & Media) sch, and my rm is like 2 mins walk from the bus stop opp. it :)

ADM

For now I havent posted pics of my rm up yet though I noe there is a demand to see it, lolx... Shall wait until I finalize and bring in everything b4 I show it to u guys :) Be patient ok?

Ok I bought the textbk for my latest module, the one tat I "snatched"... The contents are reli interesting, if anyone wants to take a look I can lend it to you after my course, haha...

Contemporary Linguistics

After 2 weeks in sch, I muz say tat I'm still adapting in a way... Academic wise, so far I understand almost everything except for tat Math part where I need to proof stuff I've never reli paid attention to b4... My room is quite cosy in the sense tat I can reli do my work properly or juz slack there :) Found Weilin to go Math Lecture with me (n Linguistics too) and he promised to go look for his badminton racket to bring in next wk... Mine is already in there, together with my badminton shoes... Ready to play anytime :D Thank God tat I oso got to know a few more frens who take the exact same course as me! Oh ya, the fd there is reli cheap and gd (if u noe where to eat la)... Anyone coming NTU feel free to let me noe, I'll treat u to a meal :) As for CCA, like wad I mentioned above, I'm thinking of joining WSC... I think it'll be cool to be around young children/youth, to be their mentor, to make a positive difference and to guide them thru life :) And if the opportunity arises, I'll want to go overseas (like so many other ppl I know have done) and build libraries, homes, and juz interact with the ppl and immerse in their culture! Some ppl say tat my course is not easy, and I'm taking a risk by choosing to study Econs cos I've nv taken it b4... Well, to a certain extent I agree with them... But then again, if I dont step out of my comfort zone, I wouldnt realise my full potential right? Of cos it'll be comfortable to juz study Math I suppose, but then the opportunity to be open to other stuff would be lost... For now, some say tat in a way I'm doing a half science, half arts degree, but to me its a chance tat I've gotten to reli expand my horizons and learn stuff tat I nv imagined I would be able to learn :D Indeed, the University Experience will only be as cool and 'wow-able' as how we see it as an individual... I dont dare say tat there wont be obstacles but I dare say tat I'll want to make full use of this opportunity given to me to study in NTU, to make the full use of my 4 yrs here and enjoy it as much as I can!!! :)

Wow I sound like I'm making a speech, lolx... N if u've read this far I reli thank you for ur patience :) You muz be a loyal fan to even hav read this far! Stay tuned for more updates! :D

Looking Good =)

Things are definitely looking better for me so far =)

Some simple updates...

1. I finally got my elective module ytd afternoon at abt 3pm... Its a linguistic module, and here's the course description for those of u out there who's wondering wad exactly it is:

"FUNDAMENTALS OF LINGUISTICS(B): STRUCTURE AND SYSTEM"

"This course presents an introduction to the sound and morphological systems of languages in the world. Students will learn to systematically examine smaller units of language by studying basic phonetics, phonology and morphology. Upon completing the course, students will be able to examine how language varies across speakers depending on their social and geographical backgrounds. They will also understand how power and attitude influence language use."

Its reli a miracle how I got, or rather 'snatched' this module, lolx... Some of you will hav heard how I got it, and I think u agree with me tat this is indeed a miracle tat is given by God :) Its not exactly a short story, and you need some background info, so those of you who are interested to find out more abt this miracle in my life, feel free to approach me and I'll fill you in on the details :)

2. Ytd I oso went to look at wad the various CCAs had to offer and a few of them caught my eye, namely Welfare Services Club (very high chance tat I'll join this), Ice-Skating Club (this is more of for fun la), Piano Ensemble (quite self-explanatory rite?) and Jazz & Blues (I get to play the keyboard as part of a full band in this one too!)

Welfare Services Club

A brief description...
Welfare Services Club is one of the largest student clubs in NTU. Currently, the club has over 500 student volunteers engaged in a wide array of volunteer work. Our main objectives are to promote voluntary service among students in NTU and beyond, and to instill a sense of social awareness among students and staff of NTU. Established since 1984, the club has continued to provide ample voluntary opportunities for all that are willing to take a step forward. Come join the WSC big family and experience and extraordinary undergraduate life!

With abit more colour :)

Maybe you're thinking...
"This guy doesnt have enough of CIP last time?" But I truly believe tat this is a very meaningful CCA, because I've always believed in making a positive difference in other ppl's life :) In this CCA, I get to reach out to children, youth and those who are handicapped... On top of tat, I may get the chance to go for overseas trips, camps and expeditions and its juz so exciting la! :) To me, I'm happy by knowing tat I've contributed juz tat little bit more to our society :D

3. I finally printed my notes up to date with the colour laser printer in my rm :) Gearing up for the tutorials during the weekend... I sound like a super mugger la, lolx...

4. Last but not least, thank you to the wonderful ppl who have been with me these first 2 weeks of sch, hearing my complaints and yet encouraging me, and oso sharing my joys together with me, esp. when the late night smses of "I finally got my Linguistics module" got thru! You guys noe who you are, thanks for being a bunch of great friends! :)))

I'm so looking forward to the Welfare Services Club's tea party tml evening... Shall find out more from the various sections in the club and decide if I wanna join them :D

Tutorials...

Attempted my first Econs tutorial last night...

It seemed do-able, and I realised when I went for the tutorial juz now tat I actually understood most of the basic microeconomic principles, which was mainly shifting and movement of the demand and supply curves, plus equilibrium points and quantities... I found out tat I had to copy super fast oso, and towards the end I juz scribbled wad I deemed was the most impt from the tutor's slides, cos she goes on and on at light-speed unless someone asks qns, lolx... 5qns, settled in 1 hr, tat's it :) Thank God for giving me the understanding :)

Rushed off after Econs tutorial to join Weilin for this Linguistic Module tat he registered for but I didnt... The lecture and tutorial seemed quite interesting... We learnt abt how language plays a part in our social environment... I thought tat it was quite an interesting course to take, as in its totally diff from wad I would usually take la... Anyway there's alot of Math modules already, so this is something reli special in a way :)

After tat I went to the NIE book store to buy my 2 Econs textbooks, and I got the NTU Lecture Pad tat I wanted!! It is special cos u cant buy tat Lecture Pad, u can onli get it when u purchase more than $30 worth of stuff at the NIE bookstore... Anyway the special thing abt this Lecture Pad is tat it has the NTU Logo inside, unlike the blue one tat I bought :D

My fav Lecture Pad!

Cos there's oso the NTU Logo inside!

Economics Texts (they dont come cheap)

Btw today's in today's Math lecture we went on to do limits... Cant wait for the precise definition of tangents next week... To Quote Dr. Andrew, "knowing this precise definition of tangents is wad separates Mathematicians from non-Mathematicians" LOL rite? Well, Calculus seems fun so far... Its the proving tat I cant get :( Anyone wanna tell me how to prove tat for any given prime number p, √p is irrational?

Happy Birthday Singapore!!

First week of sch is finally over... Whew... So many things have happened in this first week at NTU... Hmmm I realised tat traveling from home to NTU is definitely NOT fun, lolx... Even if I get to sit all the way it can be tiring, haha... Muz faster move all my stuff in so I can "camp" there :) Then I wont waste so much time traveling to and fro... Can u imagine if I save almost 4 hrs more everyday? Can finish alot more tutorials la :D

Anyway, other then being abit lost for the first 2 days, I basically know how to get to all my lecture theaters now, and I know how to go my Econs Tutorial Rm already, although tutorials havent started... Math Tutorials are held in the new SPMS building which I havent reli explored, juz walked in for awhile on the first day onli... Other than tat, I visited 2 libraries and found my sch's Popular, which is at Level B5... On a random note, I bought another Math textbook today, lol...

Well, I oso found out tat the fd court at the North Spine sells one of the cheapest yet nicest fd ard :) Lunch go there always packed one, lolx... Then below got Mac, Subway, Canadian Pizza and Old Chang Kee... One of the best eating areas in NTU la!! The Hall next to mine, Hall 9 (I'm in Hall 8) oso got a canteen but havent tried the fd there yet... Hopefully its not too bad, then will be more convenient liao :)

Hmmm, thruout this first wk, I got to know quite a few students from other countries oso, namely Vietnam, China, Myanmar and Malaysia... Thought it was quite cool la :) And as I mentioned b4, God already provided me with lecture & tutorial partners, which is simply amazing considering the fact that I dont reli noe any frens in my course... Basically, although it has been a tiring wk, I reli see that God's grace is sufficient for me :)

Anyway I did something tat I didnt forsee myself doing... Met Faith in the train as I was on my way to Boon Lay... She sat down opp. me and a look of recognition came upon her face when she saw me, haha... I guess both of us were too lazy to gif up our seats and get up, so we started communicating by mouthing words... I wasnt an expert at lip-reading but I found out tat she was in NUS (3rd yr cos the gals dont hav ns, lol) doing Engineering and tat she's alighting at Clementi... She knew I was in NTU and I told her I was doing Math... Think she didnt catch the Econs part, lolx... After tat we sortof gave up communicating this way and I thought we would juz leave it at tat... But after awhile, my phone vibrated and from the smile on her face, I guessed tat she actually smsed me! (Rmbr we were sitting juz opp. each other, lolx...) So I took out my phone and indeed I was right! So after tat I played along and we exchanged a few smses until she had to alight at Clementi... It was weird but fun in a way, haha... First time I'm doing this kinda thing la! :)

Then in today's lecture, I was totally owned! :( The topic was "Foundations of Mathematics" but I seriously didnt see how fundamental it got... We were introduced to Mathematical Proofs but I juz got more and more lost after each example... I knew tat Uni Math was something liddat but I guess I juz need to reli study hard and get the so-called "fundamentals" right first b4 going anywhere else... The star problem tat our lecturer gave today was :

"Are there two irrational numbers a and b such that ab is rational?"

I was tempted to gif something like :

"Well it depends on each individual number's mood? Maybe they'll be rational if they are in a good mood, otherwise they'll probably be quite irrational."

(Btw wad I juz said was utter nonsense la, haha... Qns are not meant to be answered by another qn, lolx...)

So after today's lecture I was sortof depressed (ok I'm exaggerating) cos I couldnt tell when numbers are rational or not :D Chionged to Popular to get my newest bk b4 rushing to the bus stop to wait for the bus... Yup, cos today after sch we had a worship gathering at Uncle Lawrence's hse... Reached at abt 7.30pm and realised tat I didnt hav to worry abt the lack of fd, cos there's reli plenty, lolx... Waited for the Olympics Opening at 8.08pm and we werent disappointed... It was a display of precision, cooperation, discipline and many more which enabled us, the audience, to reli enjoy the performance :) After tat was the march past where each country took turns to come out... We were like waiting and waiting for Singapore for like 10 million yrs la, lolx... In the end we found out tat the order was according to the number of 笔画 of each country and everyone started to like "write" out the Chinese word in the air, haha... Suddenly it became like a Chinese and Geography lesson! Anyway, when Singapore finally came out at abt 11pm, we cheered loudly, then after tat everyone left, haha... Its like we were juz waiting for tat moment to leave, lolx... Btw, thanks to Shao Hong Uncle for giving my bro and me a free ride home! :)

After saying so much, I havent reli link back to my title, lolx... Actually its nothing much, juz tat I wanna say :

HAPPY 43RD BIRTHDAY SINGAPORE!!!

*I'm proud to be a Singaporean, and esp. a student of NTU!

Pressing on...

My 100th post! :)

In about 8 months! :)

Anyway, first wk of sch is ending soon, and I reli thank God its Friday tml, lolx... Not tat I resent sch, but I'm beginning to realise tat I need to seriously learn how to manage my time between tuition, church ministries and sch work, and I'm not even toking abt CCA yet... Believe it or not, so far everyday I still got time to meet up with diff ppl and socialise, haha... One of the miracles God gave to me :) Muz thank Shuqi today for the lunch treat and for pei-ing me on the long MRT ride till she had to get down and take a bus to her sch... Along the way we found out tat we had this common friend Weilin (its a guy) who's in her OBS OG and who is oso one of the sergeants in my company... I thought it was quite amazing la! :D

Well, today I went down to my sch's Popular and bought my first textbook:

"Calculus" by James Stewart

Hopefully this can last me for 2 yrs, lolx...

I oso bought some writing materials, and I'm proud of the logos on them! :)

Nanyang Technological University!

Not too sure if I wanna get the Econs books, cos its like I'm onli using them for one sem... Shall either hav to borrow from someone or camp in the library to do my tutorials, lolx... Oh ya toking abt tutorials, I muz say I was quite excited to receive them! U're prob thinking tat I'm crazy, haha!! :) Anyway I reli thank God cos although I dont hav any frens taking the exact same course as me, I've got Weilin to go to Math Lectures with and Wei Nian to go for Econs Lectures with :))) In short, I wont be sitting alone during any lecture, lolx... Well, shall look forward to more happening stuff, esp. next week when CCA recruitment starts :D

Hmmm... someone pls tell me wad CCA I shd choose...

Math Lecture

My very first Math Lecture today...

MAS 112 - CALCULUS I

Dr. Andrew mentioned tat the objective of this whole course would be to understand rather than to calculate, since juz abt anyone can calculate given the formulas... He discussed functions with us and I thought there were many new insights tat I learnt... Audrey was right, Uni Math was more abt proving than anything else... Honestly, I could feel the adrenaline rush when Mathematics was once again brought out and thrown at me... There is an unspeakable excitement in me whenever anything related to Math is heard :) N to hear it today at yet another level juz thrilled me although I do not profess to understand 100% of the lecture... We were told tat precise definitions for many stuff were of utmost importance; we needed to get to the root of things and not juz calculate and solve problems... I reli thank God tat I managed to follow most of this first lecture :) Here is the very last slide of today, and it left me totally intrigued!

Tml would be my first Economics lecture, I suppose tat's where the real test comes in... Pray hard tat I can understand :)

Monday, August 4, 2008

First day of sch!

Woke up at 10 plus today and realised tat today was the first day of sch!! Quite relaxed in a way cos my one and onli lecture for the day starts at 3.30pm... Anyway I left my hse at 11 plus cos I intended to reach early to get my Hall keys and do abit of exploring :)

While on the train, I reli thank God tat I printed out my Econs notes as I was able to not waste the 1-hr train journey by reading thru and trying very hard to understand Chapter 1... It was a total of 66 slides and to cover it in a 2-hr lecture would mean tat we can onli allow less than 2 mins for each slide =/ It seemed as if we would have to go at a scarily fast pace... Nonetheless, I juz scanned thru every single slide and tried to make sense of Supply and Demand Curves and the ways tat they can shift, be it onli either one of them shifted or both shifted... Tat took me all the way till Jurong East, so at least much of the journey wasnt wasted in that sense...

I took 199, alighted at my Hall, got the keys and headed to my rm... I realised tat there was quite abit of cleaning up to do for my side of the rm, but I wasnt reli in the appropriate attire so I decided to do it tml after my lecture ended at 12.30pm... So anyway I left it at tat and went on the South Spine of NTU by taking the shuttle bus, and I set out to find the location of my first lecture at LT 23... Thank God it wasnt tat hard and didnt take tat long... After tat I went to Canteen B and had my lunch at 2 plus b4 hanging ard reading the latest issue of the Nanyang Chronicle till it was almost time to go in...

I went into LT 23 and scanned the many faces, trying to look for a seat at the same time... Luckily I spotted this guy from SPMS camp (Nicholas) but was from another grp... He recognised me immediately and I was quite surprised! N I was so glad to softof find someone tat I 'know' tat I juz sat down beside him... It was cool la, and wad an amazing thing to happen, when juz minutes b4 I thought I would hav to sit alone at some corner... We exchanged phone numbers and agreed to sit together during our common lectures :)

Now on to the lecture... My professor's name is Bernhard Schmidt (dont ask me how to pronounce tat cos I reli dunno) and he had this German accent due to his background but thank God tat I understood wad he was saying most of the time! The course was entitled "Introduction to Scientific Programming" and we would be focusing mainly on the C++ programming language and how we can use it for Mathematical applications... Anyway I found the lecture quite interesting even though I didnt understand everything, maybe cos I had the interest in computer languages b4 last time during my Sec sch yrs :D In the end, he ended early at 5pm and I went off to meet Kaiqi for dinner at Funan... We didnt reli do much oso, juz eat then walk ard Funan... I didnt noe the shops there close so early la, lolx... Left the place at abt 9 plus then went back home... Not too bad for my first day of lesson in NTU! :)
