The season of giving :)

What an awesome week! :)

Did my final course registration on Monday morning and omg I realised I still havent got the hang of it LOL!
Clicked 'Add' and the com hanged for like 20 secs -_-
In the end I didnt get wad I wanted YET but I believe that my timetable shall fall into place amen!!
In the evening went for the final badminton session of the year and it was a great workout!
Thanks Kia Heng, Mavis, Johan and Jun Xiang for being so faithful :D

Tuesday was a day where our minds were tested once again!
Analysis, critical reasoning and writing skills were put to the test!
It was indeed an interesting experience :)
Having the let-go attitude is really liberating!
Juz let God and let go; everything is already in control :)
When u adopt that attitude stress juz falls away, cos its not abt me anymore!
I juz believe that God has prepared the best for me!!

Wednesday was yet another awesome day! :D
Met up with Ke Xin and had a good time catching up! :)
It is simply amazing when believers gather and juz share and edify each other!!
The feeling is juz heartwarming :D
Although we hadn't reli toked for super long, it feels like we had known each other for a long time haha!
The wonders of meeting up with ur ex-classmates :)
Thanks once again for ur professional advice and honesty!!

Today went out with Eugene and Dong Yang, apparently to do some last min shopping for our Malaysia trip! Ended up walking ard and slacking in town haha :P
Meet Reb for dinner and gosh time reli flies!!
Eighteen chefs is good as usual but I shall try the non-student meal next time!
The pasta looks super delicious too :D
The gospel needs to be heard over and over and over again!
Cos we juz lose sight so easily of the promises, of our inheritance in Christ, and esp. of our position in Christ!!
Eternal righteousness was the best thing that could ever happen to man :)

Its all about You Jesus :)
To see You in all Your beauty and excellencies :)
Thank you for loving me just as I am :)
Truly, it is because You first loved me!

Doing That One Thing

Now it happened as they went that He entered a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha welcomed Him into her house. And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word.

But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, “Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.”

And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.”

Luke 10:38-42

In the above 5 verses Jesus is sharing a very powerful truth with us! Most of us probably know the story very well. At least for me, I simply thought it was about us needing to spend time with Jesus everyday, to take time out from our busy schedules and be in communion with Him. Although I was not entirely wrong, my perspective back then was still about what I needed to do instead of seeing what the Lord has done for me!!

Once again, as with every passage in the bible, we must always see the person of Jesus unveiled and in this instant, it was reli about knowing the heart of the Lord and how he delights in giving to us :)

Imagine the scenario: Jesus turns up at Martha's doorstep and rings her doorbell. Martha opens the door and exclaims,"OMG!!!" She slams the door, rushes to clear the sofa of clothing, places everything neatly and does some last minute housekeeping, all the while shouting at her sister Mary to help her. Minutes later, she opens the door again with a sheepish smile and welcomes the Lord into the house, her mind already thinking about what she should prepare for this most distinguished guest.

Once Jesus sits down, Martha rushes into the kitchen and goes into a frenzy of preparations, hoping that the food she makes would be "worthy" for Jesus. Mary on the other hand, takes on a totally different attitude which seems rude; it almost seems like she doesnt see any need to serve the Lord anything at all but rather she just sits at His feet and feeds on every word that He says.

What's actually happening here? At the end of the story we know that Jesus defended Mary when Martha became cross with her sister. But why u may ask? Wasnt Martha just trying to serve a guest with all her efforts?

The answer is simple. Martha saw Jesus in the flesh as someone tired and needing her ministry. Mary, on the other hand, saw Jesus as a fullness to draw from, knowing that this was the Son of God Himself. And this is exactly the point why Jesus came to their house. He wanted to minister to them!!! He wanted them to know that He is a giver, that God is a giver and He delights in giving to us! In his presence, we need to let Him take His place as a giver and we juz humbly take our place as a receiver! :) Let Him minister to us, wash us again with His Word, comfort us, teach us, correct us! In short, we juz take and take some more from Him! 'Cos when u have been in the presence of Jesus, u can never leave the same again! You will always be enriched by Him!!!

Notice that Jesus didnt rebuke Martha for her cooking, but rather He said that she was 'worried and troubled about many things'. Then He drops the bomb by saying that only ONE thing is needful, and Mary has chosen it. The only thing that is needed every single day is to satisfy ur soul by feeding on His love! When your inner man is flowing with righteousness, peace and joy, everything outside will be an overflow of what is boiling up on the inside!! :D

The problem is that we dont really believe what Jesus says; one thing is needful. Had he said a few things were needed we prob might have believed Him. Cos' every day there are juz so many things screaming for our attention, demanding our time and energy, and yet He says only one thing is needed???

But this is precisely what we need to do every day! Just this one thing! And it will never be taken away from us! That's His promise! Our battle every day is to fight to enter His rest by doing that ONE thing - feeding on the person of Jesus and His finished work. Reminding ourselves how God bankrupt heaven when He spared not His own Son, so that when we receive Christ into our lives, we receive EVERY good thing that came along with Him!!! Know that we are more than conquerors because Jesus Himself conquered death the last enemy at the Cross! As a post-Cross believer, we have to be aware of the grace and blessings that are abundantly available to us!!!

I promise you, when you embark on that one thing, you will not be worried and troubled about many things. Although you may know the story well, but ask yourself today if u r worried and troubled abt many things. If you are, and I admit many a times I am, then remember the one thing that Jesus said. For the ways of God are seemingly simple and yet powerful! Doing that one thing will ensure that you are not worried about many things, and you will live a carefree and restful life!! :)

When God speaks!

I feel that I must record this down because it was totally a God-incident!
2 days ago on the 24th during Arrow service, Pastor Daniel was the one who ministered to us.
He came out after the worship and HC by Deacon Lionel and instead of going straight into the Word, had an extended time of worship and just lingering in the presence of God :)
The anointing was very strong and one could feel like Jesus was just right beside you wherever you were!!
After tat Pastor Daniel started preaching after some introduction on how he had encountered the love of Christ as a teenager when he first walked into a youth service!
The youth leader had spoken over him and told him of a big hole in his heart, one which he had tried fitting many pieces into but somehow could never find the right piece.
What blew me away was his opening verse:

'Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.'
- 1 Cor 2:12

This was the exact same verse that a few days ago on Wed I had mass-sent to the cg after I felt a prompting to do so! Nothing extraordinary happened on Wed; I was juz on the way to sch inside the MRT when this verse juz suddenly came to mind and I felt that I wanted to send it out to encourage everyone :) Looking back now I am certain that it could only be the Lord Himself who told me to do so! I had hesitated cos I thought of a super long msg to send together with that verse and it was to like almost 20 ppl!! But thank God I followed the promptings of the Spirit, cos He showed me that the Holy Spirit is really dwelling inside of me!! And it doesnt have to take lightning and thunder for God to speak to us, many a times its juz that still small voice or knowing that you juz have to do something! :) Praise God for this wonderful experience!!!

After Arrow we went to one of my fav places to have dinner: Aston's! But we realised that the prices have gone up by a dollar!! Got the chance to share abt revelations in serving with Weiling also. From serving due to need to serving cos you want to advance the kingdom to finally first understanding the heart of the King before realising with joy that you get to serve n that He is always setting you up for something big and good whenever you do it :) All 3 result in the same outward action but with totally different motivations and feelings within!! God is really good all the time!!!

Now, as the recess week begins, there seems to be much to do. From Math assignments to researching on my Econs project to settling travel and hotel bookings for the year-end trip to extra tuition lessons for my students to finding time for leisure and rest... The list never seems to end! N we all know that once the recess week is over time starts to accelerate somehow. Nobody wills it to but it juz loves to pick up speed, bringing us through the 2nd half of the semester faster than you can say 'accelerate'. But well this sem I'm ending the earliest I ever ended: one full month b4 Christmas!! :D Its God's restoration to me for ending 4 days b4 Christmas last year :P

Embarking on my final year :)

Few more days to the start of my final sem!
The last lap of this season of studying draws near!
Time reli has wings :D
Looking back, it has been an amazing journey for the past 3 years.
Not to mention the past 2 years in New Creation Church has been so rich and full!
Jesus, the name above every name!
Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith!
Jesus, whose one sacrifice perfected us for eternity!
Jesus, the personification of Grace!!
Jesus, my brother!!!

With a few days to the start of a new semester, my prayer is still the same.
To labour to enter into His rest.
To walk by faith!
Which doesnt mean juz stepping out into the unknown, but going to Jesus and seeing Him in the midst of every situation!
Shall expect more favour, more wisdom, more peace and above all else increased rest in the Person of Jesus and His finished work on the Cross!

p.s. Darlene is coming on 9th Oct :P

Some updates!

Alright I added a few more links near the top of the page; 2 wonderful blogs at which u can find lots of awesome Grace-full material to read abt! I personally like 'His Grace Is Enough', some of the articles there are really so powerful and you juz cant help but have a personal revelation and wisdom of who Jesus is to you!

Gosh its so in line with what Pastor Lian shared today:

Ephesians 1:17
'that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him'

This is the key to walking in power!!!

Pastor shared 3 key results when you receive the spirit of wisdom and revelation of Yahweh Himself:

1. You will know your calling (v.18)
Be it student, businessman, homemaker, or whatever career you're in, you will be sure of what you do and not just that, but you will excel in all that you do!!

2. You will know your inheritance in Christ (v.18)
You will begin to realise that health and wealth are ALREADY yours in Christ!
Start to discover what Jesus paid for at the Cross and claim it for yourself!
He paid for it, but until you know what you have you cant utilise it :)

3. You will come to walk in His mighty power in your life! (v.19-20)
This is the same power that raised Christ from the dead and seated Him at the Father's right hand!!
Yes! Know and believe that today you have access to this very same power!

Isnt it awesome?
That its not abt praying more or doing more, though we still do those things, but ultimately it is abt knowing Jesus and having a revelation of His loving kindness and abundant grace towards us! To just soak in His everlasting love and search out scripture that speaks of His great love for us!!! When we start to see that indeed God is good all time, we begin to live a life of power and might! Everything that our hands touch shall prosper and multiply!!!

Ok back to the updates :)
I also added the online site for Pastor's resources, pls avail yourselves to them; every message, sermon or dvd is potentially life-changing!
Cos' its not man's word but God's word, and one Word from God can change your life!!!
Adding on to that is another awesome online bookstore 'GraceHope' which is relatively new but you can also find awesome material there, and its not limited to Christian stuff :)
Lastly, I put up Weilin's YouTube channel 'Pencil College', mainly for any interested Math student/tutor.
You can find concepts explained and examples provided which can greatly enhance your learning of E. & A. Math so pls feel free to browse through them as and when u need to :)

Alrite that's all for now.
I'm rotting at home waiting for sch to start in 2 weeks time!
Oh ya Min's coming next Tues so least there'll be some touring ard to do lolx...
Cant wait to bring her to visit NCC and its awesome that she's looking forward to it too! :)

This style of music may be a trend, but that's because God's blowing a fresh Wind of His Spirit in so many people who are coming to realize that anything that just builds us up as people isn't worth much. What gives God the spotlight is important. And that's all we're about." - Chris Tomlin

Matt Redman

Matt has been leading worship full-time since the age of 20 and this journey has taken him to countries such as South Africa, Japan, India, Australia, Germany, Uganda, Croatia and the Czech Republic. His early compositions include The Heart of Worship, Better is One Day and Once Again.

Freedom

Definitions:

1. exemption from external control, interference, regulation, etc.

2. the power to determine action without restraint

Both are taken from dictionary.com (Copyrighted)

So what does it take to be free?
Is it simply juz to do what you want whenever you want?
Or that you are not under anyone or anything and free to do as you wish?

Somehow I used to think that power = freedom.
I thought that the relationship was proportional.
But since then I have come to think otherwise.
Juz take a look at some of the most powerful and influential people ard us.
Some could cause stock markets to crash if they wanted to.
Others can determine the livelihood of thousands of employees in a split second.
Yet, are these powerful people truly free?
Free to live wildly, laugh till their stomachs ache, and love others crazily!

During the Legacy camp, Pastor shared that no one can be a better you than you.
You are the best at being you!
God can bypass any kind of personality and still use you mightily!!
Once we know that its nothing to do with us and all about Him this point will become clearer.
He also shared that we are only truly free when we are free to fail.
That is the freedom that Christ purchased for us at the Cross!

'For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.'
2 Cor 5:21

Only when we know that our entire lifetime of sins are forgiven,
that every deed and thought has already been judged in the body of Christ,
will our conscience be at rest and at peace!!
This is the true freedom that only Christ can bring!!
Only He can set you free!

'Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed.'
John 8:36

Knowing the truth that God bankrupt heaven to give you Jesus and thus you qualify for every and any blessing in Christ!
Knowing that today God the Father can never ever be angry at you again and there is no more judgement and condemnation because Christ took it all at the Cross!
Knowing that you are the righteousness of God Himself and your right standing with Him is eternal regardless of what you do or dont do will set you free!

Indeed, liberation tastes sweet :)
It produces that gleam in your eye and a skip in your step :)
Knowing that life is meant to be enjoyed to the fullest :)

Fun, Joy & Laughter

The trip to JB was super epic! :D
We played paintball, shopped around in Jusco and headed for an awesome seafood dinner in some ulu pandan place LOL!
It was super tiring but fantastic nonetheless!
Got a taste of wad its like to drive ard in Malaysia :)
Not easy, esp. when the white lines on the road disappear and appear at will.
And it doesnt help that they dont bother to invest in street lamps at night lolx...
The most epic was when we turned into anti-traffic!!!
By His grace and grace alone there was no car turning out when we turned in, otherwise it would most likely have resulted in a head-on collision! >.<
Praise the Lord that he preserved us and protected us!!!
It was truly a miracle that we were unharmed!!!

In Between Exams

Much has transpired in the past few weeks.

GE 2011 has been most exciting!
It was sortof a political awakening for me too.
Didnt care much last time.
But I guess its good to know what both sides are doing/offering =)
For the first time in Singapore history, the opposition captured a GRC!
It marked a beginning of sorts in our political history.
Now what remains to be seen is how Singapore will move forward tgt as a country.
I really hope that everyone can work better to make Singapore a better place.
A place I would feel proud to call my home! :D

Alright, I admit the elections were one of the major distractions for my exam prep :P
At least it was also one of the ways to take a 'break' from mugging lolx...
After tml, its one final ppr one week later!! =)
Cant wait!
June is power-packed!!! :D
Hope United is coming though!

Till then, enjoy this awesome video of one of my fav songs!!! =)

Back to school =)

Current location: Lee Wee Nam Library
Another 2 hours to go.
Waiting for Alvin to end class and go for dinner together =)
After which I hope I'm able to help him with his work.

Recess week literally flew past.
Considering i was in HK for 5 days, I cant reli complain apparently.
Things juz kept happening when I got back.
A friend's Dad passed on.
I'm supposed to go back to camp for a Mob exercise.
I woke up during the weekend feeling a sense of frustration.
Knowing that there are certain things that are beyond our control doesnt reli help much.
But I suppose its not juz abt knowing.
Its abt believing in the love of Christ and letting it sink into ur heart.
Sometimes its better if it bypasses ur mind and goes straight to ur heart.
Sometimes only =)

Anyway, the gospel is not juz something that's nice to listen to every now and then.
Many ppl come to our church because the message is good and inspiring.
But if its anything, I've come to learnt that the gospel is indeed the power unto salvation.
Not juz a ticket to heaven, but so much more!
A good, satisfying, fulfiling life with days like heaven on earth!

Devo was good juz now, reminded me of my position (literally as well) in Christ.
In a sense I reli love what was shared.
That as Christians somehow we can never, ever go wrong.
Not that we're so perfect in our planning or anything.
Nothing could be further from the truth.
But solely and only because we have a perfect Saviour.
Who loves us perfectly and did a perfectly perfect work!!
When things happen, there are onli 2 possibilities.
Either he will somehow bring us through and we get back on path.
Or He has something totally different that we never imagined before.
Something much bigger and better.
He is there simultaneously in all facets of time.
And knows what's gonna happen before it happens.
Knowing that and knowing that He's on my side gives me much security =)
I can never go wrong, not because of me, but because of Him!

We need grace to understand grace

This is an awesome quote from Weiling in cg today :)
Few statements make me agree more than this one!

Grace is so beautiful and yet it can be so easily missed!
Jesus Himself was so full, in such a way that is perfectly glorious and wondrous, and yet there were people who didnt even recognise His heart for the lost. This really reminded me not to take what I have for granted even more, esp. Pastor Prince's ministry and his teachings from the pulpit. I realised that sometimes we Christians have a harder time understanding grace and God's heart of love towards us than non-Christians. Conclusion: everyone needs grace, even Christians!

School has been draining I must say. The probability of me waking up late is directly proportional to the number of weeks that have passed since the start of the semester :P Last Wed I woke up at like 0915 when I had a 1030 lesson. Took a cab down in the end. Then on Mon I woke up at 0847, again with a 1030 lesson. It was super rushed but thank God I managed to reach on time even by taking the public transport! Literally on the dot!

Its incidents like this that make me realise that all the while I'm juz depending on His grace every single day! Simple things like waking up on time, getting the most out of my lectures and tutorials, and many other stuff I take for granted. It has always been He who watches over me :)

Anyway, one more week (with 2 midterms in it) b4 I fly off to Hong Kong!!!
Really cant wait man! :D
I can foresee that its gonna be super fun and super exciting and super cool and super etc.... HAHAHA!! :D
Shall take many many photos to capture all that I can capture! :P
Time to utilise my under-utilised camera again!

A simple yet profound quote that really left me thinking:

'When you know that you already are, you don't have to do to become'

Simple blessings in life =)

Yet another grace-filled week in sch!
I acty still managed to wake up in time for all my lectures and tutorials :P
There was an assignment due today and thank God I managed to finish it juz in time :)

Many thanks to my cg mates who presented me with the most awesome bday present in my entire life! I wouldnt trade ANYTHING in the world for it! :D

Close-up of it =)

Thanks guys for the awesome personalised front page full of blessings for me!
It really means ALOT to me! :D
And thanks to everyone who wished me in one way or another, through any kind of means :)

Other then the superb bday present, this week has been awesome too!
Caught 2 lame comedies at the theaters which reli brought abt much laughter! :D
Managed a meetup with KQ too as he came to NTU SimTech for his FYP project.
Hang in there ya bro?
God's faithfulness is beyond what we can comprehend although in the natural it may seem to be hard to believe sometimes.
He will definitely come thru for u!!

Thursday we started our first group study for Econometrics.
Quite good acty.
We were blessed enough to get a study room at the South Spine Learning Pod at the exact right moment!
Furthermore I realised that my fren works part-time there at the same time that we planned to study every Thursday! If onli she can 'chope' the slot for us haha :P
Although it was a mod that I 'tar powed', I'm really believing that God will juz intercede in such a divine way that the results that I finally get this sem will be above and beyond my wildest expectations! Cos' He is a good God! :D

On a ending note, Game Theory is getting really exciting!
After learning abt Nash Equilibrium, next up is random strategies!!
Keep ur opponent guessing! :D

And its the weekend again =)

This week was awesome!
Lectures and tutorials are in full force, but then His grace is more than sufficient for me! =)
A very fruitful week for me :D

There was the first Difference Maker session by Pst. Lian!
It was simply awesome!
She expounded the book of Romans from Chapter 1 to 8 together with us!
Its the doctrinal part of Romans and she gave us the context and background so that everything fit in together nicely =)
Indeed, Jesus is our Saviour in whom we can always trust!
In Him we are more than conquerors cos' He fought and we juz have to collect the spoils :P
And Romans 8 is one of my favourite books in the bible!
Starting with 'there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ', ending with the assurance of how NOTHING can ever separate us from His love and its victorious living all in between!!!
Such a cool book! :D

Then oso managed to meetup with Reb over dinner =)
First time trying Bakerzin and its awesome, though the cost is a little steep.
It was a good time of catching up and we stayed till they closed shop!

Also had my biz presentation this week and by His grace my group got an A+!!!
I was stunned cos' I reli didnt expect it to be this good!
It was a simple presentation but still I know that only God can exceed expectations beyond what I can ever ask or imagine! :D

Managed to come up with a strategy to tackle my Econometrics course too :P
Every Thursday we'll set aside roughly 2 hours to study it together (with Eugene and Kelvin)
Hopefully I'll be able to clear more of my doubts and clear this irritating mod once and for all!

Also managed to get to know a few more ppl from CF during my second session this sem lolx...
Sometimes its reli a struggle to go when I live so far away.
By the time I reach home its usually 11+ at night.
And this sem I have lessons on Friday so it can be quite challenging sometimes =/
Anyway I saw Cons on the way back!
Talk abt God-incidence!
Though we juz managed a short chat, (from MRT to bus interchange) it was good to see her nonetheless =)
She's tired but totally enjoying her job, which is reli quite cool I think!
Thanks for the reminder of the need to see that God IS real now even while I'm still studying =)
I guess its another whole new level in the workplace :P

Finally many thanks to Eugene, Dong Yang, Kelvin and Wei Lin for the awesome Korean BBQ treat today!!! =) It was simply heavenly and I really felt like I was back in Korea! :D
Thanks for the maple syrup from Canada too and the simple 'bday card' =)

I feel truly blessed to have known you guys =)
Over the years you have helped me survive every possible mod that we managed to take together.
And I really enjoy the times spent together as a group or with each one of you!
Soon graduation will hit us in the face but I hope we keep in touch with one another! =)
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR TODAY!!! :D
